On January 25, 1999, Visalia and surrounding areas received the first measurable snow since 1962.  Over 2.5 inches of the white stuff accumulated on the ground.  School was closed...all were amazed...pre-dawn snowball fights and snowman building set the tone for the day as neighbors woke each other and stayed home to enjoy the phenomenon with their families.  At La Joya Middle school, many teachers arrived at various times during the day to complete the grade reports that were due the following morning.

The weather station never looked like this before.
