How do bats help people?

Bats eat bugs so the bugs don't bug people! Bats keep the insect population down.  One small brown bat can eat 600 mosquitoes in one hour!

Bats eat the bugs that feed on the farmer's crops.  The farmer does not have to use so much bug spray and we have better fruits and vegetables.

Bats drop seeds and spread pollen from tree to tree.  This helps more fruit and trees to grow.  Especially in the rainforest, bats help the tropical fruits, like bananas, grow.

Doctors are studying bats to see if their saliva (spit) can make medicine to help people with heart trouble.
